Psychiatric Emergency Center, Eastern Long Island

The Psychiatric Emergency Center windows stared out onto a blank concrete wall—that which was retaining the earth away from the basement level windows. Therefore, a 27- foot long mural of local beach imagery was created on weather-treated wood panels, which were then installed by the hospital’s engineering team. The above view demonstrates a portion of the continuous mural. The below show the makeshift studio for the large-scale installation within the hospital’s engineering department, and enable full views of the mural’s details. Additional below photos demonstrate the effect of the exteriorly-installed mural from within the emergency center, which was overlooked by the community room and the majority of patient rooms.
